Russia sends 22-tonne test batch of wheat to Algeria

MOSCOW, Mar 21 (PRIME) -- Russia has sent a 22-tonne test batch of wheat to Algeria, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight said on Thursday.

“In accordance with the agreements reached by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight with the Grain Bureau of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Russian side has prepared and sent a test batch of wheat to Algeria. The weight of the shipped cargo amounts to 21.88 tonnes. The Russian wheat batch will be tested for compliance with the quality requirements of the Algerian side,” the statement said.

“After laboratory studies the Algerian side will consider the possibility of softening the requirements for wheat imported from Russia for grain damaged by the corn bug.”
